GARDEN CLUB UPDATE: The next Garden Club Meeting will be held in on Monday, September 20th at 10 a.m.
MEMORY GARDEN UPDATE: The gardens are looking great thanks to our volunteer's hard work and occasional free help from the Hampshire County House of Corrections. Due to some winter kill and other unknown problems, we lost some plantings this year. We have established a NEW plant policy as follows: When a plant is purchased, we will make every effort to ensure that it is healthy and cared for. IF a plant expires up to 2 years from the purchase date, we will replace it at no charge. However, we CANNOT guarantee plants indefinitely from any kind of damage and disease. Plants with problems after 2 years will have to be replaced by the donor at their own cost, or, they may opt to not replace the planting, and have their plaque removed from the garden. We have a really beautiful green space outside and we receive great comments all the time! Remember it is all done with donations and help as we can get it. Green for Green.... Please remember the gardens when donating to the ECOA.

FRIENDS OF THE EASTHAMPTON COUNCIL ON AGING: The Friends Group consists of volunteers who plan and organize fundraising events for the Senior Center. The Friends have sponsored our annual picnic, an antique appraisal, annual ice cream social, monthly dinners and a tag sale/open house. The Friends have also supported the Senior Center is many different ways including purchasing fitness equipment for the Fitness Center, a new photocopier, computers, a new rug for the Yoga Class, window shades, and so much more. Meetings are held on the third Friday of every month at 9:00 a.m. at the Senior Center. Friends members pay annual dues of $12.00 for an individual or $24.00 for a couple/family.
AUGUST 2010 UPDATE: A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE FRIENDS OF THE EASTHAMPTON COUNCIL ON AGING FOR THE RECENT PURCHASE OF FITNESS EQUIPMENT AND FUNDING THE ROOT BEER & HOOLA HOOP EVENT AND THE VOW RENEWAL CEREMONY. YOUR SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED BY ALL OF THE STAFF AT THE ENRICHMENT CENTER. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
ATTENTION ALL FRIENDS MEMBERS!!! What have the Friends done for you? The Friends of the Easthampton Council on Aging, Inc. is a nonprofit tax exempt group that has raised money to support many programs and services provided by the Easthampton Council on Aging Enrichment Center since 1988. The Friends Group is an all volunteer organization that has provided the following financial support: 1. Sponsor an annual Ice Cream Social and Picnic at Nonotuck Park. 2. Sponsor an annual luncheon for Easthampton residents, 90 years of age and older. 3. Provided funding to purchase new fitness equipment ($3600.00) and computer equipment. 4. Funding to clean the kitchen/floors, re-finish the hardwood floors, install a new door to the fitness center, and other maintenance related concerns. 5. Purchase six new Queen Anne chairs for the new seating area. 6. Funding for a vegetable garden, Betty Shea's cancer benefit, six new portable tables and a $200.00 per month Activity Expense for the Activity Coordinator. 7. The purchase of a new electric stove and fire suppression system for the kitchen. The list goes on and on.
If you attend programs and events at the Enrichment Center, you probably have benefited in some way by the Friends Group. THEY NEED YOUR HELP!! The Friends of the Easthampton Council on Aging is seeking volunteers and consultants to attend a monthly meeting to help plan and implement future fundraising efforts. The current Friends Group does a fabulous job, but could really use fresh ideas and suggestions to continue to raise funds for the Enrichment Center. At some point in the future, the Enrichment Center will not be able to continue to support such interesting and exciting programs, events, and activities without ongoing support and funding from the Friends Group. It only takes 1-2 hours per month of your time to attend a meeting to discuss, implement and plan fundraising events, activities and ideas. We are looking for creativity, imagination, a great sense of humor and a willingness to help. Kim Jensen, Activity Coordinator and Linda Talbot, Executive Director usually attend all meetings with our requests for funding specific ideas, activities, and needs for the Enrichment Center. YOU HAVE A SAY IN HOW THE FRIENDS MONEY IS SPENT!! Please join the Friends at their next meeting to see if you would enjoy committing yourself and your time to a very worthy cause, YOUR ENRICHMENT CENTER. You will not be disappointed.
FRIENDS SILENT AUCTION: IT'S TIME!!! It's time to think about what you can donate for our Annual Auction. All proceeds from the auction will be used to benefit the Friends of the Easthampton Council on Aging Emergency Relief Fund. This fund provides emergency assistance to Easthampton residents, 60 years of age and older. Funding has been used to assist with heat, utilities, food, medication, medical equipment, and other necessitites. If you are interested in donating a specific item, gift certificate or a monetary donation, please call Diane at 527-6151 and leave a message. Thank you for your support. |
